1. Who we are
Aurien is a members-only networking app for entrepreneurs, operated from Detroit, Michigan, United States. This policy describes what we store about you, why, who processes it on our behalf, and what you can do about it. Questions go to support@aurien.biz.
2. What we collect
Your application and profile. Name, username, email address, password (held by Google Firebase Authentication, never by us in readable form), city, role or title, company, business stage, the industries you work in, what you are open to, a profile photo, a short bio and any social links you add. We record the moment you accepted these terms and attested that you are 18 or older, and the status of your application (pending, approved or rejected) with the reviewer's note.
What you do in the app. Posts and comments, stories, asks and the outcomes recorded against them (including the value band and evidence link you choose to attach), direct messages and group messages, deals, events, goals, connection requests, introductions, saved items, swipes on the match screen, reports you file, and the points and badges the server awards you.
Device and usage data. Push notification tokens for the devices you enable notifications on, the platform you use (web, iOS, Android), and product analytics events such as which screens you open and which actions you take. Google Firebase records the IP address and timestamp of requests as part of running the service.
Payments. If you buy a membership, Stripe collects your card details directly. We never see or store your card number. We store the Stripe customer id, the plan, the subscription status and the renewal date.
3. How we use it
To run your account and review your application. To show your profile to other approved members. To suggest members you might match with: the ranking is a fixed formula over shared industries, what you are open to, city and stage, and a two-sentence explanation of a match is generated by Anthropic's Claude model from the profile fields of both members. To route an ask you post to the members whose listed expertise overlaps it, and to send a weekly summary of asks you could help with. To deliver notifications you have turned on. To count verified outcomes, which is how members are ranked. To handle reports, enforce our terms and keep the service safe. To understand how the product is used, in aggregate.
4. Who sees what
Approved members see your profile fields, your posts, stories, asks, deals and events, your verified-outcome record and the badges you hold. Your email address, block list, notification preferences and membership details are stored in a private record only you and our servers can read. A member who applies but is not yet approved can see only their own profile. If you share your digital card link, the fields on that card are visible to anyone with the link. A verified outcome can be shared as a receipt page (aurien.app/r/…) by either of the two members on it; the page shows both names, the kind of ask and outcome, and the month, and it shows the ask's wording only when both of you have allowed it. Either of you can take it down from the app, and deleting your account takes down every receipt you are on. Direct messages are readable only by the two participants; group messages only by the group's members.
We do not sell personal data and we do not show ads.
5. Processors
These companies process data for us under their own terms: Google Firebase (authentication, database, hosting, cloud functions, push messaging and analytics; data is stored in the United States), Anthropic (the match explanation text; profile fields of the two members are sent to generate it), Stripe (payments on the web), Sentry (crash and error reports, which may include your user id and the screen you were on) and Apple and Google for push delivery on their platforms. Type is set in self-hosted Playfair Display and DM Sans (SIL Open Font License).
6. Retention and deletion
We keep your data while your account exists. Stories are hidden after 24 hours and the record is deleted when you delete the story or your account. When you delete your account from Settings, our servers cancel any paid membership, then delete your profile, private record, posts, comments, stories, asks, deals, events, goals, connections, introductions, saved items, notifications, device tokens and your sign-in. Messages you sent, in direct threads and in groups, stay visible to the other participants with your name removed. Verified outcomes stay on the other member's record with your name removed, because that record is theirs too. Reports you filed keep the report but drop your username. Analytics events are kept in aggregate without a way to contact you.
7. Your rights
You can edit your profile at any time. Download my data in Settings gives you a file with the data we hold about you (the most recent 500 items per category and your 100 most recent conversations; write to us for the rest). Delete my account in Settings does what section 6 says, immediately. If you are in the EU, UK or California you may also write to support@aurien.biz to exercise access, correction, deletion, portability or objection rights and we will answer within 30 days. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.
8. Analytics and cookies
We use Firebase Analytics and our own event log to understand how members use the app. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels. The web app uses local storage to remember your session and preferences.
9. Children
Aurien is for adults. You attest that you are 18 or older when you apply. We do not knowingly keep accounts for anyone under 18 and we delete them when we learn of one. Our child safety standards describe how we handle reports.
10. Changes
We will tell you about material changes in the app or by email before they take effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
